Scotch Broom

Cytisus scoparius

Scotch broom currently does not exist on the Colville Reservation, but is widespread in Western Washington. The plant pictured here was near George, WA, a landowner had brought seed over from Western WA. The seeds can last 50 years in the soil! This is a great illustration of weeds being moved as contaminent in soil.
